Order of cameras is changing

Post by px03afk »

A rather odd thing has recently started happening. The order of the cameras on my console keeps changing without me (apparently) doing anything. Is there some way, other than the console, where the order can legitimately change?

Do you have "security" set?
Do your cameras have static IP addresses?
I do not know of any other way to change the order than by console. I suppose it is possible via API...

I have noticed this as well! I have not really looked into it because I kept thinking I was the cause through experimentation. But it does happen somehow.

Maybe try checking the sequence values to see if they are changing in DB?
"select * from Monitors order by Sequence asc" is the order used by console.

My cameras all have static IP addresses. Not sure what the question about 'security' is getting at.

I just checked my database and according to the table stats the Monitor table hasn't been changed since last August and yet I can see that Events and Logs are up to date, which suggests that the stats are working.

So looking at the database is the data displaying in order of the Sequence values? So keep a record of those values and screen shot console, then when it changes check the values. If they are the same but the Console is ordering differently maybe post an example of DB data (mid and sequence) and the consoles actual sorting. There will be some reason.
I think the security question might have been around users access to the monitors and also if you are grouping any monitors.

It seems to only happen when I group monitors! The key for me was this "and also if you are grouping any monitors." Otherwise the re-ordering of the monitors does not happen I noticed.

That might be the key, px are you grouping?

No grouping and strangely enough it seems to have stopped happening.
