error preventing view of video stream

Hello,

I'm a brand new ZM user. I've got a NUC thats a few years old and I've put a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 and installed ZM v1.30.0 following the instructions in the user guide at http://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/sta ... index.html I'm really excited to get ZM working using extra equipment that I had on hand rather than a more expensive new device with a cloud subscription. ZM looks like a great solution but I'm getting an error that I can't figure out how to fix.

I'm using a logitech webcam which I did have an initial issue with it not being recognized by ZM but that seems to have been a permission issue that I was able to fix. Now it is showing as green and seems to be detecting okay but when I click on it to monitor, the stream won't load. I can see the frames as still images.

The logs are below. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have just installed zoneminder 1.3 today and I am having the same problem. My DCS900 camera is connected, and I can view the frames and stills of an event, but not the video stream. It is installed on an ubuntu 16.04 server edition using the instructions on the website '16.04 the easy way' and I am also getting the no such file or directory fault.

I had a similar problem last night and was getting socket errors. After hours of searching I found that the default path in Options --> Paths --> PATH_ZMS was incorrect.

The default setting is: /cgi-bin/nph-zms
The setting should be: /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms

The default install of the web app is /zm, so the install scripts needs to be updated. I filed an issue on Github (1623), so hopefully someone will be able to put in a quick fix.

Ubuntu users should be following the "easy way" documentation in the wiki:

There you will see that the documentation states to set your PATH_ZMS to /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms

If you disagree with this then contact the package maintainer directly. I will tell you that there are many variables the maintainer must consider when setting this value so changing it might fix it for you but could very well break things for others.
