Pictures scrambled during daytime only

Post by zorn »

Hi @all,

this is my first post and I'm doing my very best to do everything correct.
I've installed Zoneminder on a Raspi 3 according to these instructions.
The video source type is configured as ffmpeg, the remote method is RTP/RTSP.
Everything is working fine during nighttime!
But as soon as the sun rises and the brightness exceeds some threshold the image looks completely broken, see attachment.
This effect occures independently of the functions like monitor, modect etc...
After a restart of Zoneminder everything is fine for about 2 minutes, then the picture starts to be scrambled.
The only thing I can do is define the source in Zoneminder as greyscale - in this case everything is ok.

I'm almost sure it's just a small setting in the configuration...

Thank you.

The resouces in the pi are limitd. Start by reducing the camera resolution to as low as it will go. Also keep an eye on the tmpfs, or the space used in /dev/shm. Reduce the frame rate to 5 FPS and the key frame interval to 10 (key frame is how often a full frame is sent). St colour to 32 bit.
I've noticed with day/night cameras they seem to slow down on IR and make things easier on Zoneminder.
