I now have a package for APIs for 1.28. Works well for ubuntu. I need someone to test it for Debian - catch me on #zoneminder in IRC and I can point you to instructions. Once someone using debian tests it, I can make the instructions public. Hopefully this will bridge the gap till 1.29.x hits the streets debian
