Constant hard drive activity with 1.28.1

Post by orsty3001 » Tue Mar 03, 2015 1:50 pm

I just upgraded to 1.28.1 and it's just constantly accessing the hard drive. Not sure if this is normal in this version because 1.27 didn't do this.

Normal! Even if you are not recording events ZM uses the hard drive for some temporary file functions, or so I've been told. Has always done this as far back as I have been running ZM. If you have the memory you can put some of those functions on RAM disk such as:

PATH_MAP = /dev/shm

PATH_SWAP= /dev/shm

There are some MySQL settings you can tweek to help out a bit. Install and run mysqltuner to see what can be "adjusted."

There seems to be a little more wrong with it than that. The performance has declined a lot. The amount of hard drive activity would reduce the lifespan of the drive significantly.

It seems to bog down the webserver to the point that accessing any page takes several minutes.
