Can no longer configure zones Hacked/Solved??

Hi All:

I added a new camera and went to configure the zones.
The text data shows up but the image is no longer present.
I have tried with many different browsers, linux and windows.
Nothing lets me bring up the camera image so I can define zones.
Any idea what this could be?
Zoneminder is installed on ubuntu 12.04 latest up to date version.

All my directories have the correct permissions.
It must be related to

“Make sure you've added "/var/cache/zoneminder" to open_basedir in php.ini and restart apache server.”

Not exactly sure how to do this on my system.
I have
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php5/cli/php.ini

Which one should I add it to?

My events, images and errors directories are on a separate drive.

One other note. I recently changed this drive. When trying to use bind in fstab that no longer worked. I don't think that has anything to do with it but wanted to share that info.
I just put the paths to the directories in zoneminder configuration setup.

I tried the latest update from iconner master.

I am now on v1.27.99.0
I still do not have a image to configure zones.

Help?

I removed the update and rolled back to 1.27.0
I even purged zoneminder and did a fresh install.
Still no zone images. Im in kind of a bind here as I need to get this set up before I head out on business.
Sorry to be posting up here so often but I cant seem to get this worked out.
Any help would be truly appreciated.

Happens when I click on add zone.
I took out my ip address.

You probably don't have to do this. This variable is empty/not set through any ini-file on my system (un-changed Ubuntu 14.04.1) and it works fine like that.

I have tried it with and without that set.
This is really confusing because I had been running the same setup for quite a while. It worked fine and then last week when I changed cameras and went to set up the zone it was blank.

The only thing I have changed is the drive that images and events are stored to. The path is the same but the drive is different.
Is there any other information I can offer to anyone to get this resolved?

Okay:

I got it to work in a strange way.

I looked at the apache2 error logs.
Every time I tried to setup a zone it gave an error in apache of a missing file. see above post from me.

So I had to create this directory structure.
/var/www/usr/share/zoneminder/images$ (I did not have /usr/share/zoneminder/images)
I then created a link to the actual folder loaction of images from the newly created images path.
I then set the correct permissions and viola. I now have images in zone setup.

This CANT be the right way to do this. But it works for now.
Can anyone explain what is going on here?????

If any of the experts could chime in it would be appreciated.
Would this be caused by a apache error or is this all zoneminder??
