Are there any Zoneminder experts out there who would like to work as a paid consultant to help set up zoneminder, or can you recommend anyone? I have sent an email to zoneminder.com but I haven't received an answer.

I'm willing to be paid to help. Depends what's needed of course.
I generally charge $50/Hr USD for remote support, can be paid in bitcoin or other altcoins
In order for me to help, you will have to do the linux install, then I can help with zm setup. Would need to hear more about what we are dealing with in terms of cams, etc..
