I have Zoneminder 1.26.5 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS -- Linux mssdvr-00 3.8.0-36-generic #52~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 3 21:54:46 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have successfully configured a variety of cameras (trying to come up with a decent set for a client of mine based on his requirements - PoE/IR range/image capture quality/pricepoint). I recently received a camera from a vendor in China - Unique Vision.
Quick synopsis: I get it configured in ZoneMinder and initally am able to view video. However, after a few seconds the screen goes red. Interestingly, at about that same time, ZoneMinder shows the frame capture rate jumping from around 30fps to close to 70. Meanwhile, the error log shows huge numbers of the abovementioned error -- Unable to read packet from stream 0: error -541478725. I also get another error message which occurs FAR less frequently: "can't find process with command of 'zma -m 8'"
A bit more info (not sure if it will prove useful):
The camera is supposedly ONVIF friendly, and sure enough, when I point the handy dandy windoze-based ONVIF device manager at it, I am able to get rtsp stream info. In fact, I can copy/paste that data into VLC (on my dev box - running Ubuntu Desktop), and the stream plays like a champ, no problem.
One interesting fact is that this bad boy for some reason utilitizes port 80 for rtsp, and I can see no way to change that. FWIW, the rtsp url is rtsp://192.168.1.236:80/ch0_0.264. VLC pulls it up great. ZoneMinder (I add ?tcp at the end) shows it running for a few seconds -- 10 maybe??, then it goes to hell in handbasket.
Any pointers/thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated as this device actually delivers KILLER video quality, IP/PoE, fantastic IR. Thanks!
