Zoneminder 1.25.0 & Ubuntu 13.10

Post by ipyrro »

You Zoneminder & Ubuntu gurus...please help me....

I have been trying to search for the help / solution for my problem. I seem to be having now Zoneminder installed in my Ubuntu machine. I have some cameras connected correctly and they are recording images to disk.

But...I cannot view a realtime stream from any of the cameras.

If I try to view the realtime stream (or replay the stored images) I seem to be getting the following error in to the log:

2013-12-02 15:55:47.451919 web_php 6849 ERR socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-682772s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory /usr/share/zoneminder/includes/functions.php 2323

Any ideas / help very much appreciated...

Does the /tmp/zm directory exist? Does your apache (or whatever) user have the right to create files there?

Hi,

I will try:

- In Options::Path, check PATH_ZMS Web path to zms streaming server to be set to "/cgi-bin/zms"
- Check also that the path to your functions.php is in the directory /usr/share/zoneminder/includes/functions.php.
- Check I also will try to check if cambozola is installed and checked (Options::Images).
- In Options::HighBW (or the BW selection you have), WEB_H_CAN_STREAM = auto, and WEB_H_STREAM_METHOD=jpeg

Hope it helps,

PacoLM

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

Had the same problem when loading zm on a clean install of 13.10. Strange because I have another machine running 13.10 and zm with no problem until I realized the difference was that the working machine was an Upgrade from 13.04. So, flattened the non working "clean" install 13.10, installed 13.04/zm. Got that all working and then did a upgrade to 13.10. So, now it's working as well. Hmmmm...

I'm not knowledgeable enough about Apache/php/ZM to know what was missing in the "clean" install that was carried up from the upgrade. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the idea! I was able to get 1.26.5 running on Ubuntu 13.04 then do an upgrade to 13.10. Had to move the zoneminder.conf from /etc/apache2/conf.d to /etc/apache2/sites-enabled then restart Apache. Will save copies of the various config files, reinstall a clean 13.10 and see what is different. Stay tuned...
