Support for legacy USB webcams on 1.25.x

Post by wilks »

Hi,

After recently coming across the excellent zoneminder I have deployed Zoneminder onto an ESXI 5 server I have using the documentation provided by Mike Waldron. This includes a pre-packaged server hosting Ubuntu 32-bit 12.04.1 LTS and Zoneminder 1.25.0. Whilst I wait for my Foscam IP cameras arrive, I am trying to get two old Logitech Quickcam messengers running. I've found some excellent documentation describing how to install these however the pre-requisite seems to be the installation of linux-headers-2.6 libraries. As my server is running "Linux zoneminder 3.2.0-29-generic-pae #46-Ubuntu" it doesn't appear that these older header libraries are compatible.
If anyone know either way if these old USB web cams are compatible or not, it would be much appreciated?

Many thanks.

No experience on this library compatibility issue, but I was able to make an old Logitech webcam work on Ubuntu 12.04. Search the forum for mjpg streamer.
