big probleme with FOSCAM IP PT/IR cam FI8918W random reset

Hello, since recently 1.25.0svn have a big probleme with my famous FOSCAM FI8918W

In the middle of the night when i'm sleeping....
my foscam seem to reboot or reset fonction and when she reset she make an pt test and light on infrared and she move to an standard pan tilt position that not arrange me

is this zm relevant ? or bug with my foscam

the exactly moment il this log of that occur is at 2011-09-10- 05:35:28
i can see the recorded event my webcam move and switch on infrared led...

My Foscam FI8918W's randomly reboot as well. I think it's a firmware issue, not with ZM...
Some times they reboot every day and some times they stay up for a week!

To ensure the camera goes to your desired position after reboot, you need to:
1. Enable presets (under PTZ settings)
2. Set your position to preset number 1
3. Enable "goto preset on boot" (under PTZ settings)

i recently upgraded foscam firmware
before have never had this bug...

I can't found older firmware ....
i just do a hard reset and modify only minimum config
(i read something about bug when you modify the name of camera that cause error with internal smtp function of cam)
i send email to an official forum of foscam for related these bug and the corrupt jpeg data)

wait and see.

Which firmware are you using? I have no such issues. Using device firmware 11.22.2.36 and webui 2.4.18.16 fwiw.

FOSCAM FI8918W (firmware 11.22.2.36 and 2.4.18.16)

Have the latest firmware
but i think the reboot bug only come with WiFi network
because before i use LAN network with no reboot (for test it with zm)

that reboot betwen once day at one once two hours

today this cam is on prod
and i can only use it in 802.11b 11Mbps that give me betwen 8 and 10fps @ 640*480.

Ahh...wifi. I thought about that as I was submitting my prior post. I have had zero issues with my cam but I have also never used wifi with it, only wired. Is this a real Foscam or a clone?

But i found a workaround for this WiFi bug:

Always under my gentoo, i launch script every 2 minutes with a cron job
for sending command to switch off ir led and preset goto ...

To confirm, this work around only ensures that the camera goes to preset 1 and turns iR off in case it rebooted itself?
If so, why do you need a script for this?
If you set the iR settings in the camera web UI it is retained after reboot. If you set "goto preset on boot" (under PTZ settings) it will go to preset position after reboot.

the camera on reboot return to the home position and the home position cannot be changed
and with my web gui foscam interface i can't define any preset i use zm for that

You can set the default 'home' orientation via the gui but I think you need to use IE, not all of the options are available if you don't use IE and its ActiveX control.

I took a look at it, you do need to use IE to adjust the presets. Under the 'For Operator' select the '1' preset and click 'set' to set the home then under 'For Administrator' select 'PTZ Settings' and make sure that 'goto preset on boot'. That should do it for you.

Could it be that these reset problems are heat related?

I have a DB Power camera which is a clone of the Foscam and it has been working perfectly with no problems. I've just bought a second unit That worked fine for several hours and then started resetting every few minutes. I had been using it standing on a wooden table that didn't allow airflow to the underside. I then mounted the camera on the fixing bracket and it has run all night without reseting.

You could test this theory by positioning a fan near your camera.

To set preset 1 , issuue this command from any browser

cameraIPaddress/decoder_control.cgi?user=admin&pwd=&command=30

To make it goto preset 1 after reset
