DO I need to add this somewhere … ?

If your driver is compiled into the kernel, add the following to be passed onto the kernel from LILO or GRUB.
bttv.card=0,0,0,0 bttv.tuner=4,4,4,4

I made bttv.conf file in the modprobe.d directory…
