Post by panchoro »

Hi,
I searched a lot information about capture mp4 with zoneminder but I don't Understand something, I have an axis camera and I'm capturing video with zoneminder with rtsp, whithout problem, but I don't understand why the events are saved in jpg format, like when I caputure with MJPEG, I would like to save video files. It's impossible with zoneminder?

It's core to how zm is coded and cannot easily be changed. The frames are decoded from the stream for analysis (in modect and others) and then saved out as jpgs. Because zm deals with multiple types in incoming stream - analogue, jpg, mjpeg, mpeg4 - it needs to convert to a common format to prevent duplicating every function, and zm is it.

To export videos of what you've recorded, just use the 'videos' tab and select video format required. ZM will then call ffmpeg to create your video from the jpgs and allow you to download it. Only downside from your point of view is a lack of audio.
