Dlink DCS 3220 Ip Cameras NightMare

Post by metallica1973 »

Has anyone had any luck with the DLINK DCS 3220 IP camera? I have been wrestling around with multiple settings and cant seem to get this camera working. I have a total of 7 of these cameras but am just trying to get one working with stability. The system is a 64bit, 4G, BC-04120A DVR card with an Nvidia video card. I am using Zoneminder 1.24x. I have tried various setting in the buffer:

Code: Select all

Image Buffer Size (frames): 65
Warmup Frames: 25
Pre Event Image Count	: 15
Post Event Image Count	: 10
Stream Replay Image Buffer: 100
Alarm Frame Count: 1

Code: Select all

Image Buffer Size (frames): 70
Warmup Frames: 25
Pre Event Image Count	: 10
Post Event Image Count	: 10
Stream Replay Image Buffer: 1000
Alarm Frame Count: 1

Code: Select all

Image Buffer Size (frames): 120
Warmup Frames: 25
Pre Event Image Count	: 25
Post Event Image Count	: 10
Stream Replay Image Buffer: 1000
Alarm Frame Count: 1

I have tried several settings and cannot get to the bottom of this issue. When I view the camera, it will work for a short period of time and then either freeze or turn black. When I look at the logs everything seems normal. I am not seeing any shared memory issues or timestamp stuff. Is there a magic formula? What is the trick, Heaven help me!!!!!!

I don't think that the buffers has anything to do with your problem!!!

Maybe it is your cambozola, or browser!!!

interesting,

I have firefox (it works for a while and then freezes or turns black) and chromium (it just shows the image but it is frozen). I thought I followed the instruction correctly. I thought Cambozola is there only to support Internet explorer and similar browsers without java supportWhat is the trick?

There's a setting in Firefox to avoid freezing... I think...

Or maybe is the version...

Ok, I added that entry and looked at my logs again and can see that the shared memory stuff and the Unable to store frame as shared memory invalid. I let another program set that up. Would you happen to know what the shmall and the shmmax for an 4G 64bit system would need?

Edit /etc/sysctl.conf base values (generally 134217728), increasing them by 50% until shared memory issue ends. For me 268435456 (double) worked running higher res. cameras (704*480). The formula in the wiki only got me part way there, had to just keep bumping the values up and restarting.

I made adjustments which I had forgotten about previously before but realized that I am still having shared memory issues that are appearing in my logs. I am 4G of RAM, 64 bit processor, Nvidia video card bith a Bluecherry DVR card. I have read just about every post in regards to shared memory and none have remedied this issue. I have tried this formula:

http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=67244

i have increment shmall by 10% and etc and the same @#$

this is the camera that I am usin, a Dlink DCS 3220 IP camera:

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=350

I noticed on the camera that is has these variables. Could this be the root of the issue?

Code: Select all

Video settings
 	Color
 	Size: 176x120/176x144,352x240/352x288,704x480/704x576
 	Maximum frame rate	30
 	Key frame interval :	120
 	 Fix bit rate: 256k
 	 Fix quality	: good

What is the magic solution?[/url]

Yes; basic config. problems will give you "invalid shared memory" because there's nothing there to grab. Be sure your SHM_KEY is set to something similar to "0x7a6d0000" and your shared memory values are similar to "268435456" after that focus on resolution and palette. You must match what the camera is sending and what ZM is expecting; they must match exactly.

I had the same experience as you. Sorry to say, the cameras junk.

I struggled with it for literally years (and I am using literally correctly, not for emphasis).
I also thought it was zone minder and banged my head against the wall trying to figure out why this camera was causing issues. Its not zoneminder. Its the camera. Its dying. Eventually it just wouldn't work at all.

Took the lens adapter out of it, threw the rest out, and vowed never to buy a dlink cam again.

Just my experience.
