Problems with ZoneMinder on Kubuntu 10.10

Post by danensis »

I've tested the video card ( an 8 port card from camsecure) on earlier versions of ZoneMinder, and on different distros, so know it works. However on Kubuntu it won't display any images unless I set my cameras to NTSC GREY (they work fine as PAL COLOUR on all other versions).

I've had to amend bttv.conf from the details sent out by camsecure because Kubuntu does a certain amount of detection itself - if I don't have a bttv.conf it picks the card as default type 0, which doesn't work at all.

with the following in /etc/modprobe.d/bttv.conf

options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1
options bttv gbuffers=32 card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102 tuner=0 radio=0 coring=1 full_luma_range=1 chroma_agc=1 pll=1 combfilter=1 triton1=0

When I display the montage, three of the cameras show an image, the other three only have a strip of grey image at the top of the frame.

I've played around with V4L MULTIBUFFER and CAPTURES PER FRAME as suggested in another thread, but no joy there either.

Any ideas?

I'm beginning to think this might be a resource issue. If I uninstall and then reinstall ZM I get a different set of cameras working each time. I have six of the eight ports on the capture card connected to cameras, and on three successive reloads of ZM the monitors that worked were 2,3,5,6 then 1,3 and 5 and finally 1,2 and 6, so no real pattern to it at all.

(also posted in the hardware section, as there was a thought it might be the camsecure card)
