Zoneminder's motion detection

Post by luckylinux »

Hi
I recently read an article on my favourite magazine about zoneminder and was thinking about building up a small box with linux and use it with 1-2 IP cameras.
I read that the motion detection is quite good, isn't it ?
But since this would be for a typical in-house use, I would like to know if there was a way to disable / exclude the alarm procedure in case I'm at home. For example:
a) I get my image recorded by ZM -> don't send email / sms warnings
b) I have to disable it by going on the server's IP and then deactivate all cameras
c) Turn off the PC :(

Since I go out 1-3 times a day (and come in again) it would be quite unease to always turn on and off the device.
Any ideas or features in this direction ?
Sorry if I missed some posts about that (if there are) and thank you in advance

You can setup alerts by time of day but there is no real enable/disable yet.

Kinda strange that ...
Then if I come in my own house a bit earlier than expected the alarm goes on :D ?
And when you say "configurable by time and day" does it mean I can configure it for example like follows:

- Monday from 6AM to 6PM alarm on
- Tuesday from 6AM to 8PM alarm on
- ...

Or does it only mean the alarm is on from 6AM to 6PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, ... ?
Thank you very much

yes you can, using an old nokia mobile and gnokii software is possible to enable and disable sending sms or calling.
