Having an issue similar to this thread: http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewto ... y++zmwatch

Machine is quad core intel, tons of RAM, 4x1TB drives for images, 120GB system drive. Running Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit server.

Have two Axis 211 IP cameras, these function as expected in 640x480 resolution without putting much load on the system at all. Also a BTTV 4x4 card...all cams tied locally to this generate the following, with a black box instead of an image:

Code: Select all

Change of the shmall and shmmax values has no effect. Any help out there? Please be specific in your replies. While I'm not a n00b, concise help is the best kind.

Also note that the www-data user has been added as a member of the video group, to no effect.

progress...sorta

I'm making (some) progress. No longer generating copious errors in my logs. And I can get video off of a single input from all four chips at once. So my 16 port card is now functioning as a four port. But as soon as I add a monitor on (say) /dev/video0, input1, in addition to input0, I get black images for both.

In short, the hardware works. I can take pictures from any of the inputs individually. But try to take pictures from more than one input from a chip = fail.

Suggestions?

Same errors but with IP Cameras

I have one 4 channel DVR card setup and I'm using /dev/Video0, with 2 camers input at the moment (LivRoom & Foyer). Both show video just fine. But, now I"m trying to add an assortment of Trendnet Ip cameras (IP110W, 312W and 410) I cannot get an image only a black box. And of course the dreaded "shared memory" error. I have tried increasing the memory allocation via the instructions but it does not seem to help.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 & 1.24.2 ZM.

NEED HELP!!!

You should try recompiling with the --nmap=YES option in your configure, that way zm will handle the memory automatically and that problem should dissapear.
