Confusing info from Zone Minder web site.

Zone Minder's front page (http://www.zoneminder.com/) (paragraph 2) says

"designed to run on distributions which support the Video For Linux (V4L) interface",

but the first item in the feature list (http://www.zoneminder.com/documentation.html) says

"Runs on any Linux distribution!"

These two statements are not, on their face, obviously compatible. Any clarification?

If you would only use IP cams it would indeed run on any Linux distribution
