Why Zoneminder doesn't support Unicode?
I suggest to convert all pages to utf-8 for better translation work.

Yep, I originally wanted to name some of my cameras with unicode chars, and didn't allow.

If you can explain what is required to add unicode support I will see how easy it is to implement. It is an area in which I have little experience really.

i stumbled upon the very same thing. just change charsets/collations in DB to utf8-something where something is collation that suits you best and you are done.
if common sense is so uncommon, why is it called common then?

In Hungarian, car is called "Autó" - there is the character "ó" that would be required in the camera name. Also would be nice to have spaces allowed in the names.
