Hard Drive recommendations?
What hard drives do you recommend? I was looking to get a WD purple used from ebay I saw there is an X and a Z model?

Not SSD. There are only three spinning HDD manufacturers. Take your pick.
fastest way to test streams:
ffmpeg -i rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path ./output.mp4 (if terminal only)
ffplay rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path (gui)
find paths on ispydb or in zm hcl
