Request for help: External trigger

What is the easiest way to trigger (zmtrigger.pl, right?) Zoneminder with a simple open/closed circuit connection?

IOW, I have an external sensor which when it senses what I want to sense, it closes a simple relay circuit. I need to detect that relay closure (presence of a connection) with ZM and crank specific cameras to record an event (go into alarm).

I have seen this solution, but it seems quite complex. I dont think I am capable of building such a device. Does someone offer these for sale?

Other solutions that I have overlooked?

  • Connect relay or alarm to computer.
  • Have computer telnet to ZM Server and send the necessary packet when alarm is set off.
A bash script should be enough.

There's some instructions at https://wiki.zoneminder.com/ZMTrigger
