Grounding and lightning protection for outdoor cameras

Post by rdorsch »

Hi,

I am planning to mount an outdoor camera. I am wondering how you handle grounding and lightning protection for your outdoor cameras (and if you have any issues or even damages when you go without lightning protection or even grounding).

Many thanks

Depends how much you want to spend.

Polyphasor is the Gold Standard in lightning protection, and I think they make cat-5 isolators.

You can also put a lightning choke loop in the cable, and ferrite cores around it...
