GW-5037IP Camera

Post by Richard.Jones »

Good afternoon all,

Has anyone configured a GW Security IP camera with Zoneminder, I have it added as a monitor but I'm not getting any image, I'm thinking it has something to do with the configuration of the monitor but can find anything related on google search.

thanks for any help,

RJ

First camera on the install or just this camera not working on existing install with working monitors? Click the Logs button and see if anything interesting, Capturing at X fps is good news and it is just your display something like zms_path.

Hey Steve, first Camera, first install of the product too, it went pretty well installing the CentOS and the ZM, now if I could just get the config right.. I've tried several different settings.. Deleted the monitor a couple of times now and started over.. I know it has something to do with the host and host path I'm sure, tried HTTP and RTSP stream paths to no avail.. GW Security Tech Support says their cameras are ONVIF compatible and last night one of them asked me to send them the info on ZM so they could test it there in their labs.. Camera's are pretty awesome clear good night vision and like $100 for these 5MP units.. Not bad all in all, just want to get this setup done for this non-profit that I work with, we will probably do another 10 or so cameras around the complex....

So on the console check the logs in the top right of the screen see any errors? Also make sure you check the CentOS ZM readme for any instructions around apache and cgi-bin config. I am debian/ubuntu user so my install process and config is a bit different. Also if you want to post a screen shot of monitor setup, first two tabs only.

Hey Steven, I got it to work kind of, got the right combination of the config for the HD stream.. It captures at like 20FPS or more at times and then freezes and drops, there are some errors in the logs where it fails and then comes back.. I ended up shutting off the firewall and things started working somewhat.. It won't let me export the logs through it creates the file but at 0 bytes.. Looks like it's missing a path on the server to store something.. I've got to find that..

Swap from remote to ffmpeg for that monitor.

Ok, did that, now when I go to view the monitor it doesn't have the 1x,2x,3x, scaling anymore.. Is that normal?

Hey Steve, I've got it recording the 720P stream but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to record only like from 7am-7pm 7 days a week. What am I missing to make it record a calendar and time frame..

It links to details on using cron to change state on schedule.

Awesome Steve, I'm reading it now... I'm not a Linux guy per se, but I administer RHEL and CentOS servers at work. Haven't really had to write crons, have people that do that (PROGRAMMERS).. I'm just the technical guy.. I'll see what I can mess up!! Fortunately this is a VM and snaps are my friend..
