Help choosing an IP Wireless camera

Post by roundhay »

I want to set up an IP wireless camera under zoneminder to use in my house. It does not have to deliver great quality so I don't want to spend a lot of cash. The main thing I am looking for is compatibility with zoneminder running on ubuntu server. I really don't want to have to spend much time setting this up.

There are quite a few mentions of Edimax camera's (probably due to the attractive prices) but the compatibility seems limited and though there are lots of threads discussing these issues there does not appear to be a good how-to to get any of the models working.

The other camera' s I am lookign at are Y-Cams's.

The 3 models I'm considering are:

Edimax IC-1510Wg
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.a ... =ic-1510wg

Edimax IC-3010Wg

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.a ... =ic-3010wg

Y-Cam Colour Low-Light View Webcam White YCW002
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.a ... tid=ycw002

There is a bit of a difference in price bwteen the Y-Cam and the Edimax camera's but I'd be prepared to pay this if it is easy to set up?

I would also be interested in any how-to's covering the set up of an Edimax camera.

Ideally I want to install Zoneminder using synaptic

Any suggests woudl be geatly appreciated

Hi, I have tried the Edimax IC-3010Wg and it has a pretty images really good quality for this price, I thing the best BUT i found some problem, the web server after some time ~7 days stops and then you need to do
a reboot with:
