I can see from the new website that you are discouraging downloading the source however for those of us who wish to do that is it not possible to have a link which does just that rather than having to go to GitHub?

Not discouraging downloading the source, just building from it using make and make install as some perl modules don't uninstall correctly after this method.
All Releases are available as downloads on the releases page on Github, it is where the source lives so you will need to go there. Or Git clone if you want the latest, you don't need an account to clone.
