joystick dome controller for pc based surveillance system

We are developing a pc based surveillance system that seems is going by the good way. One client needs a joystick based dome controller. It would be plugged to the pc that manages the system and commands from the dome controller would be executed by the computer.

However we have a problem: dome keyboards use private communication protocols and do not provide drivers or libraries to integrate this kind of controllers to our software.

We could do it with a games joystick, but would like to use a professional keyboard because of the esthetic appearance.

Could somebody help us? Do anybody know a dome controller we could use?
