ZM on 2 different computers (same network). Share cameras?

Post by Pure L »

Is there a way to share cameras between ZM installations?

The 2 computers are on the same local network using 'local' cameras (i.e. /dev/video0)

I'd like to share the cameras of one install with the other.

I'm well versed in networking, etc., so the basics aren't needed here. I'd just like to know how to let one install "see" the cameras of the other.

Thanks!

Say box 1 has your local cameras.
Box 2 can connect to box 1 cameras as if they were IP cameras.

quote from wiki.
"Remote systems, themselves running zoneminder, can be accessed as cameras using the Remote Path of /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=single&monitor=1&scale=100&maxfps=5&buffer=1000 - where the monitor number is the correct camera on the remote system."

Thanks, theforce!!!!!

That works!

Does that mean that those cameras' respective events will now be recorded onto the "new" box instead of the other one?

Seems that way.

You can have both boxes record if you want or just one record and the other just view.
