Avoiding false positives due to insects flying past IR

Post by funkypenguin »

Hi ZMers,

I've got a very successful ZM instance with a single IR camera ATM, and have been enjoying the process of tweaking / setting it up for my requirements..

.. I have a foscam fi8905, with a powerful IR capability (60LEDs, 30m range). At night, insects fly past the camera, SHINE back as IR, and trigger an event (see sample image attached).

My only thought to reduce the impact here is to increase the amount of alarmed frames which constitute an event... which has helped, but slower-flying bugs are still a problem :)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
D

Isn't better to have false positive due to insects rathen than not detecting a real intrusion??

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

Hi,
a definitive way to get rid of this is to install an IR beamer beside the cam and switch of the ones in the cam.
