Hikvision DS-2CD2342WD-I working with ZM 1.29 via RTSP

Post by Martian »

I purchased a Hikvision DS-2CD2342WD-I off of Amazon from the seller NetView. It is a true US version with updatable firmware.

Link = https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZ ... UTF8&psc=1
Datasheet = http://overseas.hikvision.com//uploadfi ... 0115US.pdf

Working great with the following settings:

Source Type: Remote
Remote Protocol: RTSP
Remote Method: RTP/RTSP
Remote Host Name: <username>:<password>@<ip address> (you did change the default password right? default ip address is 192.168.1.64)
Remote Host Port: 554
Remote Host Path: //Streaming/Channels/1 (or //Streaming/Channels/2 if you plan to use Stream 2)
Target colorspace: <?? bit> (default is 24 bit)
Capture Width (pixels): <width> (default is 2688)
Capture Height (pixels): <height> (default is 1520)

It is powered via PoE via an ~75ft run with no issues. This is my first IP security camera so I don't really have any basis of comparison but the daytime resolution is amazing! It also does very well at night but I'm pretty sure there are better cameras out there (perhaps not for the same money though). The IR lamp does a good job of covering the entire view (better than ring style IR lamps from what I've seen) however the lamp does give off a faint red glow that may draw attention to the camera at night (perhaps not a bad thing?). The lamp also seems to attract insects which is presenting a bit of a tuning challenge for motion detection at night. All in all I'm very impressed with this camera and think it is a better buy than some of the older Hikvision models out there.

WARNING: Be sure to purchase a US version, the "International" versions work however you cannot upgrade the firmware!
