Here is the Wiki How-To I have done up:

http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... 332_camera

And here is a link to the manual
http://www.vivotek.com/downloadfiles/do ... manual.pdf

The manual is fantastic!
Its tells you EVERYTHING about the camera, it even has a 52 page section showing all the CGI URL paths you can call to set all the system settings on the camera.
Its a very Open Source/SDK/Developer friendly camera and manual.

Here are 3 photos.

First one is in the afternoon, 1280x800 MPEG4 at Excellent (I think :) )

Then a bit later at dusk.

And then at night:

In the night show shot I had the light sensitivity right up on high to pick up all the light. On low the image looks a lots better and smoother but not as light. See here:

All in all, I am leaning towards getting another one, but I want to do some more testing on image quality before I do; there are so many settings regarding image quality in the cameras web interface.

hello DaveQB,

I'm really glad that now you can run the cam on ZM. So I think I also will order the IP 8332 tomorrow. But there is just one thing that I will ask you.
Are the LED's real IR-LED's or do they send out some kind of blue light like shown in the picture:

please inform me about that.

thx, junior

PS: Thanks alot for sharing your done up!

Good question.

I didn't see any blue light, but I did see them emitting a huge blast of light, about every 9 seconds until I ticked the tick box marked:

"Disable IR LED"

The problem was I had it pointing out a window just to get an idea and it was glaring off the window every 9 seconds so all you got was a white picture (not blue)

I can capture and send some video footage, but I can assure you there was no blue about it; that picture you have linked to is not a good representation of how the front of the camera looks, there is no blue I can see.

I hope that answers your question.

I am curious about what this blast of what seems IR LED light every 9-10 seconds is.

Hitting the glass in front of it does the camera a dis-service, but if it was outside it may well make the night vision even better.

Anyone know night IR cameras well??

Hi DaveQB,

You can check page 61 of the user's manual.
Two suggestions (A&B):
A1. Light sensor sensitivity: set to low
A2. set IR cut filter to "Auto mode"

B. Select "Schedule mode" for IR cut filter.

If you have any question about the camera, please feel free to send email to

Thanks.

If you are talking about getting the blast of light every 10 seconds, then I managed to stop that by ticking the "Disable IR LED"

I current do have the IR cut filter set to "Auto mode"
I have played with the light sensitivity setting. I think it is on normal currently.
