Re: 1st time linux user just installed Zoneminder

I saw the web page for Zoneminder and decided to dive into Linux for the first time in order to take advantage of this great program. The only version of linux that I found worked with my computer was pclinuxos. It took me a long time to get ZM to install on my computer because the install instruct...

I had to redo this... sudo chmod 4755 /usr/bin/zmfix zmfix -a sudo chown www-data.www-data /usr/share/zoneminder/temp If zmfix was running when you upgraded, or locked when you "fixed" it, you may not have seen the problem. Lee you were right about this and I thank you. it is important to...

Not sure what you are saying.

See my link you posted... You have to reset all the "fixes" from the working install. I am not sure what you mean by "You have to reset all the "fixes" from the working install.". Are you saying that the upgrade wiped out my previous fixes? I tried all my cameras and e...

Re: Help me upgrade from 1.22.3 to 1.23.2

I am a little stuck. Please tell me the proper sequence of commands to upgrade my system from 1.22.3 to 1.23.2. I am using the Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy distro. Assuming you're using the .deb package and it wasn't a manual install: First read http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11309 Install (...

Thanks for your help and here is a solution to help others

Thanks for helping. Moving the events folder to a second drive freed up the main drive for the OS and DB. Now I can fill up the 2nd drive with events. My intention is to backup the events folder to tape or DVD in the future. For now, I will just let it hold the data for now. I know that this is noob...

I would be interested in paying for support or a consultant to enable a couple features that are currently broken on my zoneminder system. I think "services" has better revenue potential than selling hardware without all of the pitfalls that anyone who has ever sold hardware can share wit...

Built nice system now I want to add a second hard drive

I am using Ubuntu and ZM 1.23.x. It works great but I built it on a 40 gb SATA drive as a test bed. It took much pain and sleepless nights (IM Newbie) to get it working. I want to install a 500Gb SATA, more memory, and add on 16 cameras with a PV183 from Bluecherry. I am too lazy (and a big chicken)...

Re: "Selling" Zoneminder

This is not really a website issue, but it seemed the best place. I have been reading a lot of posts from frustrated people trying to get ZM up and running, some with little to no Linux experience. So that got me thinking of how handy it could be to build, configure and ship some systems to people ...

If you can get a username into the HTTP_REMOTE_USER environment variable you can use ZM remote authentication. But other than that what you have done seem sensible. If I can think of a generic way to include this then I will include it in the main distro. Phil Have any improvements been made on this?
