Re: Zone tuning

Is there additional overhead when using multiple zones? I did make one change this morning, I bumped the Alarm Frame Count from 1 to 3. A lot of the events I was seeing were due to a flicker in the image, some sort of auto iris thing in the camera I believe. They only lasted for one frame in most ca...

IP Cam suggestions?

Looking for some suggestions for a camera based on these requirements: High Definition (1920x1080) IP POE Outdoor Wide angle lens IR, should have a range out to about 50 feet give or take Bullet or Dome I want to mount it on the gable end of my house right up near the peak so it'll look down and hav...

Zone tuning

Having a difficult time understanding and applying how to tune the zones for good detection. In the sample frame I've walked into my side yard through the gate directly behind me 30 feet or so This is the first frame that showed up as an alarm frame. I'd really like it to alarm when a human sized ob...

Re: Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

Is the firmware the same across all cameras? Yes and no. :) There's two of one model, and two of another model. All four are on the latest firmware available from Grandstream. After running overnight with no FPS defined in the monitors on the zoneminder side I'm not seeing any image smearing any lo...

Re: Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

That might help out quite a bit. I had a cam at 10 fps and with ZM also set to 10 fps it would hang the stream and provide funky images. Leaving the ZM fps setting blank sorted it out. I think that although set to 10 fps on the camera it was actually running 10.4 fps (give or take) so ZM was trying...

Re: Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

All the cameras are set (within the camera setup) to 10fps, I've matched that on the zoneminder side. (When I shouldn't have) Or at least I thought I had. I found the oddball camera set to 10fps along with another camera. I must have gotten used to setting 10fps whenever I saw the option. I'...

Just disconnected the other cameras from the POE switch. Will have to let it run for awhile to see if that makes a difference.

Ran the ping a bit longer this time: --- icecam5 ping statistics --- 610 packets transmitted, 610 received, 0% packet loss, time 609350ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.215/0.325/13.485/0.553 ms Did see something interesting during that ping. 64 bytes from icecam5 (192.168.1.235): icmp_seq=155 ttl=64 time...

Re: Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

The cable is actually the shortest of the four cameras that I've got hooked up. The longest is only about 80 feet. It's good Cat5e cable, I terminated both ends myself. Been building Cat5 cables for just about 15 years. I got lots of experience there. There's three other cameras on the same switch, ...

Re: Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

Yep, using ffmpeg, I tried libvlc but it was very unstable for me. My monitor definitions all use the "?tcp" in their rtsp URL. I submitted a ticket about this to Grandstream, they suggested a factory reset. I did the reset, got the camera back to the same configuration it was in before an...

Four IP cameras, one of them acting strange

I have four Grandstream GXV-3672-FHD cameras, two of them are the base model, two have a 3.6mm lens for a wide angle view. One of the wide angle cams is throwing a lot of events due to smearing. The other 3 don't do this at all, or at most very very infrequently. For instance, I cleared out all the ...

Pretty sure it wasn't the AGC, I was seeing something move through the frame. Actually a lot of little somethings.

It really looked like there was a dust storm happening.

Re: PATH_LOG option being ignored

Ok, got the logging happening to /var/log/zoneminder/ but I just noticed that after a restart of zoneminder all the zma and zmc logs got zeroed out. Is that expected? I'd rather do the work in rsyslog to rotate those in the OS if possible.

PATH_LOG option being ignored

In the Paths tab of Options I have /var/log/zoneminder defined. But all the zoneminder log entries are going to /var/log/messages. How I do get zm to log it's activity under the /var/log/zoneminder subdirectory?
