Re: ZoneMinder 1.25.0 - preview
It seems that I am unable to create or modify Zones correctly. It allows me to open the window, but there are no points for me to alter. The logging system states: 2011-08-01 11:19:09.113507 web_js 5970 ERR Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method 'injectInside' http://boxipaddress/zm/skins/classi...

Thanks, that did the trick, adding
to zm_user.cpp
Now testing in a VM box.

When building the tarball for 1.25.0, I get an error saying: make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/ZoneMinder-1.25.0/src' g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -I/usr/include -I/usr/include -Wall -Wno-sign-compare -fno-inline -I/usr/include -D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS -g -O2 -MT zm_user.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/zm_u...

Re: Logitech QuickCam Chat, AirLink 500W, ImpactVCB Success
I can do that too, but at 5fps the image is not trustworthy, as sometimes it only captures one field, instead of two fields, causing the image to look jagged and blocky. Hence the reason I bumped the Frame capture to 2 instead of 1. I rather have a better image with both fields at 2.75fps (assuming ...

Re: the best images for the police?
IR Lights can easily be seen using a cell phone camera, or other handheld video cameras, just FYI. Though, IR lights, the LED kind, are harder to shoot out since you'll need to aim at something you are seeing by proxy. (Case in point, take a TV remote, and aim it at your camera, then press a button ...

Logitech QuickCam Chat, AirLink 500W, ImpactVCB Success
Ubuntu 10.04.2 Server with Zoneminder 1.24.2 Logitech QuickCam Chat http://www.logitech.com/en-us/435/281 Add the following line to the file zmdc.pl in /usr/bin/ just before the line my @daemons : $ENV{LD_PRELOAD} = '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so'; Then restart Zoneminder. Thanks to kayjaygee_13 Cap...

Re: the best images for the police?
Man... that's all crazy! I'm sorry to hear about all your frustrations with criminals. Sounds like you definitely have your hands full and are losing a lot to crime. I really wish I had more ideas, and hopefully others have some genius ones that don't cost too much for you. I guess the last thing I ...

Re: the best images for the police?
The purse string balancing act is never fun. :( I guess the best thing I would suggest would be to move the cameras closer, or park your vehicles close to the cameras so you can see who's working under the car. Unfortunately, that may mean extra cabling to get there. 330 TVL cameras aren't horrible ...

Re: the best images for the police?
Looking at your video, the cameras are too far away from the vehicles to get a good licence plate. Also, being a resolution of 320x240 is not going to get you too much. If your cameras or capture card allow, I would definitely up your resolution to 640x480. Also, under OPTIONS > IMAGES, scroll down ...

Re: Logitech QuickCam Connect E2500 (089d) - Ubuntu Server 1
I just wanted to comment and say that this worked on my Ubuntu Server 10.04 install with my Logitech QuickCam Chat for Skype. Settings at 320x240, NTSC, RGB24. Although my install said I had the libv4l-0 installed already, but the little bit of code made it work properly! Thank you! (Mind you, the c...

My biggest suggestion is to have the computer record in the HIGHEST resolution your cameras can handle, with the LEAST amount of compression possible. I have analog cameras, so my max resolution from the input card is 640x480. I set my JPEG compression to 100 in all fields but live in the options me...

Web seems to hang: PHP ereg() error?
Ubuntu 10.04 with Zoneminder 1.24.2 Sometimes when I use the web interface for zoneminder, it times out or hangs. When I look up the Apache2 error log, I see the following errors: PHP Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /usr/share/zoneminder/includes/functions.php on line 808 (and lines 813...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss of data so far. Working in forensics, I'd suggesting shutting down the computer and giving the hard drive to the officers, asking them to deliver it to a computer forensics department to see if they can recover the lost files. I've had to do that a few times at work...
