Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

SteveGilvarry, I had the camera set up via Onvif. Do you know which is responsible for supplying "RTP/Unicase" (Camera / ZoneMinder)? From what you've stated, it seems like a poor default choice. If the camera is supplying that info, I'd like to email their support about possibly changing ...

Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

Update: I don't get any lost frames in VLC when VM isn't also monitoring the feed. I suspect I was just seeing those lost frames because two devices were attempting to watch the feed simultaneously. Note that the compression artifacts remain when ZM is exclusively monitoring the camera.

Anyone else getting captchas when logging in here?

Just saw a notice that after some number of failed login attempts, I needed to enter in a captcha. I use a password manager, so there are never any mistaken authentications when logging in. Is the forum under attack? Just my account? Bug in the forum code?

Re: Massive amount of events were just deleted...

Glad to hear this filter is finally getting retired.

Is there a filter that can delete the oldest entries until a threshold has been met? Much like how backup software / Time Machine works?

Barring that, perhaps a script that utilizes the API?

Further discussion about dealing with fog/vehicle lights at night...

In a previous response from knnniggett (thank you btw), this list was given as one recommended way to set up a camera for outdoor use. I wanted to discuss this further in its own thread since I had already done all of these steps previous to this list being posted. 1) Delete all the preclusive zones...

Re: Different red outline issue...possible broken preclusion zone logic?

Please leave your assumptions that less is better at the metaphorical door. This is a technical support forum, and more data is definitely better. The Forum Rules, which you read, quite literally say that. This is not a joke. I have yet to encounter a post with too much data (the search key works q...

Re: Real-time stats viewable?

Actually, this is a separate issue with another camera. I had made two changes: 1) I changed the motion detection of my zones to the preset Best, High Sensitivity from Fast, High Sensitivity. 2) I enabled the config setting "Use a weighted algorithm to calculate the centre of an alarm." Ye...

Re: Where to change ZM memory usage above 50%?

Thank you, that worked. I attempted to edit the documentation to add some details about that solution to cover other possible distros, but when I clicked on the "Edit on GitHub" link at the top, I got a 404 error: https://github.com/ZoneMinder/ZoneMinder/blob/ee889678cc9dde8772b3ebbfadd064...

Re: Different red outline issue...possible broken preclusion zone logic?

We here in this technical support forum are mere mortals. We don't have a crystall ball, nor do we have magical powers. Until you produce the data we need, then we can't give you a complete answer. I imagine you say this often here (I saw it in the READ MY FIRST forum post too). As someone who work...

Re: Where to change ZM memory usage above 50%?

knnniggett, Are you talking about this line? "If you want to increase this limit to 70% of your memory, add the following to /etc/fstab tmpfs /run/shm tmpfs defaults,noexec,nosuid,size=70% 0 0" df -h shows the path is /dev/shm: tmpfs 3.7G 3.1G 658M 83% /dev/shm not /run/shm I thought those...

Where to change ZM memory usage above 50%?

According to the docs:
https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/stable/faq.html

"Also remember by default ZM only uses 50% of your available memory unless you change it."

I'd like to bump this up to 70% or 80%, but I can't find out where to modify this setting.

Re: Different red outline issue...possible broken preclusion zone logic?

knnniggett, Interesting, Since you're asking for more information, can it be implied that it's possible to have an alarmed frame, triggered by motion, and not have any red outlines on it? I figured my particular circumstance ruled out a lot of the reasons for any additional information. Let me see i...

Different red outline issue...possible broken preclusion zone logic?

I followed the instructions and re-built the rpm for centos using the git repository for the other problem with red outlines not getting painted into the frames. However, I seem to still be having a problem since alarms are triggering, but nothing is showing as outlined. Here's an example of an alar...
