Re: how can change storage in zoneminder to synology nas
I've not done much with docker/containers so can't help much either. From what I've seen of other applications that use docker you'll struggle to get it working with an NFS mount. The whole point of docker is to make things more manageable and repeatable. Your best bet would be to jump over to the s...

Re: how can change storage in zoneminder to synology nas
Here are the basics. 1. Create a shared folder on your NAS 2. Update the NFS permissions for the share 3. Stop both ZoneMinder & Apache/Nginx 4. Mount the NFS share against /var/lib/zoneminder/events - you'll need to do this in /etc/fstab 5. Restart Apache/Nginx & Apache Any existing events ...

Any news on the CentOS distributions?
I've been running ZoneMinder on CentOS for a few years now and update to the latest version when it becomes available. Currently running 1.36.12, however that's no longer the latest version available. Is the distribution still active or has the maintainer moved onto other projects?

Re: ZM connects to cameras on port 554, even when you do not use viewing
It sounds like you don't quite understand what Zoneminder does or is used for. If Zoneminder doesn't have a connection to the camera how is going to process the data from it? The web portal is just a front end GUI that make it easier for you to manage your Zoneminder installation. Just because you l...

Re: High Swap Memory Use
I have 3 cameras on one of my servers and found I needed at least 16Gb RAM to cope, swap space is still used but not a massive amount and performance is quite consistent. There are far too many factors in play to give a definitive RAM requirement, you have to take into account things like location, ...

Re: Memory low 8 16
You'll have to explain a little more than just that. Zoneminder uses memory but doesn't have direct control, that the job of the OS.
Ore you saying your system has 16Gb and the swap space gets down to < 20Mb? or something completely different?

Re: I am new to Zoneminder, did I make a mistake with installing 1.36.13?
The term Monitor in Zoneminder refers to the function the camera is providing. Those events your seeing in the Logs are not likely to be the camera capturing anything if your not able to view the live stream. I suspect you've not got the configuration sorted yet. Can you provide the URL your using a...

Re: Doorbell Camera
Thanks for the updates. Very much appreciated, fuel for thought.
In terms of Hardware running ZoneMinder, I'm running on VMware so have plenty of horse power available both in terms of CPU and RAM.

Doorbell Camera
I'm thinking about adding a Doorbell camera to add to my current setup. But not sure which one to go with. Has anyone managed to get one setup and working with ZoneMinder, I know you can't have a two-way conversation and that's not important to me at this stage. Like most of us on here, I don't fanc...

Re: service zoneminder fail starting
It would be worth checking the service configuration for Zoneminder and check to see that all the requirements are available. On my setup I have SQL running on anther server and need to comment out the requirement for the Zoenminder service to start.

You'll need to look at the configuration on the Camera for that.
