You'll have to explain a little more than just that. Zoneminder uses memory but doesn't have direct control, that the job of the OS.

The term Monitor in Zoneminder refers to the function the camera is providing. Those events your seeing in the Logs are not likely to be the camera capturing anything if your not able to view the live stream. I suspect you've not got the configuration sorted yet. In terms of Hardware running ZoneMinder, I'm running on VMware so have plenty of horse power available both in terms of CPU and RAM.

It would be worth checking the service configuration for Zoneminder and check to see that all the requirements are available. On my setup I have SQL running on anther server and need to comment out the requirement for the Zoenminder service to start.

You'll need to look at the configuration on the Camera for that.
