Re: Events and Images Save in Different Location.. Possible?

if you haven't found the solution yet, you have to, stop ZM copy the events dir to the location you want and then add or replace a symlink to that location. it really depends on what distro you used and how ZM was installed. some have symlinks and some installs use a real events folder. you may need...

Re: Turning off camera at a specific time

yup... save the run state with the camera on, maybe as "daytime" then turn it off and save the run state as "nighttime" from there you use cron to change run states. it's not hard to do and there are examples in this forum. problem is that searches in the forum turn up alot of >>...

Re: Where is waldo.. i mean log file ... need for fail2ban

I use fail2ban on ubuntu, the log files are in /var/log. fail2ban.log, fail2ban.log.1 and so on. if ya want to use it for apache log in fails. you need to "enable" apache in fail 2 ban. the default setting is ssh only. I might be wrong, but i think you need to use apache basic auth for fai...

Re: Recording from Everfocus DVR

If the Everfocus DVR has an option to view images with firefox / no active X
you might get the image string from that. I do network connections for CCTV
companies and have worked with quite a few DVR brands.
i'm not sure which ones will work with firefox but some do, mostly just to view cam streams.

Re: after upgrade ubuntuserver 10.04 -> 12.04 - zoneminder f

I didn't compile it from source but i haven't had any problems with 1.25.0 that came from the repositories for 12.04 64 bit LTS server, works well. all i did is secure apache2 a little.

Re: zm -good enough for proffesional use ??

i use 8 channel cards with 8 chips from bluecherry. i usually set them for 10 or 15 fps each. i've got a few people with this setup with 8 cams and the videos made are nice. real time might be 24fps but 15 doesn't miss much. the only time i've had problems is when i use a very large hard drive simil...

remote recording

one way is to setup zm on the local with the cams as monitors

then on remote server/recorder install zm and stream the monitors from the first/local box

the image quality will be what you set in images streaming quality on the local zm

I use Apache2's authentication module and disable Indexing. along with that i install fail2ban and set it up for apache works pretty well you don't get the password right in 3 or 4 tries and you are multi-port banned for a few hours. your server doesn't respond on any ports from the requesting IP ad...

I would have to agree with all of the above about trying to fix your install. it can be done but might need more knowledge than you may have. it would be much easier for you to reinstall ubuntu. if you have a CD ROM drive in the pc then it's the easiest thing you might do with linux. if you don't ha...

and put -sameq in the box.

you'd be amazed at the difference
