Re: Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I
I'm turning this into a mini-blog of sorts! Anyway, I just realized this camera also supports a secondary low resolution "sub stream". So, in Zoneminder, I set up a second monitor to do a constant record on this substream. Defaults for the substream are 352x240, 30 FPS. After ZM's conversi...

Re: Script to convert all events to daily videos
Here's a slightly updated version of the script above. Tweaks:
- --event-dir argument can be passed multiple times
- --event-dir argument(s) is(are) interpreted as shell glob pattern(s)
- --help output has been updated to indicate defaults (e.g. 50% scaling)

Re: Script to convert all events to daily videos
Here's yet another variation on the same theme, this time in Python. This script works by taking in a top-level directory to search for JPG files; those files will be concatenated into a video file using ffmpeg. Additionally, if requested, each JPG can be run through the ImageMagick program "co...

Re: Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I
Update: since the hardware I previously mentioned (X2 3600 / 2GB RAM) clearly couldn't handle two cameras with the settings I'm currently using (1280x720 / 15FPS), I went ahead and upgraded. Now I'm running a quad-core i5-6500 and 8GB RAM. Overkill for this application, but very high value based on ...

Re: Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I
Just to give a little more info on this setup: System is running CentOS 7.3. Running ZM 1.30.0, installed from zmrepo. I re-purposed an old PC that I'd been meaning to give away. AMD Athlon X2 3600+, 2 GB RAM. (This is an oldish CPU, before AMD started integrating video into their CPUs; DDR2 memory....

Re: Monitor Config - Source Tab - Remote Method?
...the user is expected to know something about network protocols. [...] As always, Google is your friend If you could kindly point me to a link or two that discusses these protocols and and how they are used in Zoneminder , I would appreciate it. There is of course no shortage of pages discussing ...

Monitor Config - Source Tab - Remote Method?
I'm using ZM v1.30.0 on CentOS 7.3 installed via zmrepo. So far so good, just wanted a little clarification on something... When adding a monitor, under the "Source" tab, the second field is "Remote Method". (This field is below "Source" and above "Options".) ...

Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I
Hikvision seems to be pretty popular with Zoneminder. Seems like there are lots of people using these cameras with success. I haven't seen my specific model - DS-2CD2132F-I - mentioned in ZM context. However, it seems to more or less work right out of the box. I first referenced the Zoneminder Wiki ...

Suggestions for a 4-port analog capture device, USB or PCIe?
I recently moved into a house which came with four analog cameras (not sure of the make/model). The cameras are currently connected to a Speco DVR4RS. It works, but it seems kinda klunky. Plus, I already have a Linux server and a decent amount of Linux experience. Zoneminder looks like it might be a...
