And maybe google is useful too... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=272328&page=17 You have to add a monitor as local (usually /dev/video0) https://major.io/2015/02/07/using-zoneminder-logitech-c270-webcam/ You may need to set your camera settings, the default palette , etc This is a good...

Re: Camera FPS Not The Same As Recored FPS
It's better to set the FPS in the camera (if option is available) and leave the max FPS settings blank in Zoneminder. This avoids skipping frames.
Hope it helps,

Re: Can I use Zoneminder on my existing Xubuntu day to day machine?
Well, Rpi + 5 Axis 210 cams... I do not see it, you may need a powerful device. It will work on your Xubuntu setup is you have at least 2Gigs of RAM, I will go for this option. My guess is that a device like a RPi does not have enough CPU power nor RAM to handle this configuration you are suggesting...

Re: Wanscam HW0045 Help?
If you could get the static image you could use your camera in Zoneminder, if fact, it will save some CPU, as the ffmpeg will not need to decode the frames. Give it a try.

Re: cpu usage for source ffmpeg vs remote
Note that you will get a performance boost if you change to 32bit colorspace. Wow, not only an improvement in the performance, the image quality (at least in my cameras) is way better after switching to 32bits from 24bits. I'm impresses, every day I learn something in this forum! Thanks a lot, PacoLM

Re: Is ZoneMinder still a CPU hog?
@PacoLM I found that the Hiawatha set up consumes slightly less CPU cycles then Apache. Big difference is the ease of configuration and security. I can write up the steps to install, the trick is in the configuration but it actually is not that involved to get it going. What functions have not work...

Re: Please upgrade to 1.29
Well, this could be a sign that the active users are more proactive to install upgrades and the users with a stable 1.25 working server does not visit the forum that often.
I would add the option "I already upgraded to 1.29"....
Regards, thanks and good job!

Re: Samsung Smartcam SNH-P6410BN
PacoLM....I took your advice and tried ffmpeg. While I could not find "ffmpeg", I was able to find "avconv". I set the flags you recommended accordingly. I now get a completely blue screen for the monitor and the string "Unable to open input 192.168.0.xx:xxx/profile5/media....
