Re: IP or analog? How to decide for home surveillance syste

I personally had it all. Analog, IP with passive POE and IP with POE. In my opinion if you have the money go with IP with POE. $390 per Axis camera. 800x600 from newegg $200-$400 on POE switch. I bought a 24 port with gig ports for $350 at newegg In my opinion this is a much better setup and easer t...

Re: full reset back to defaults?

Install phpmyadmin and drop all the stuff in the ZM database. Thats what I would do.

Re: Only want video captured instead of jpg files

ZM only saves jpg's. You can export as video through the web interface. I dont think you can have ZM automatically save as video instead of jpg.

Is there a reason you need videos instead of jpg's?

Re: Noisy, interlaced frames after adding two more PAL camer

If your still getting scan lines you might want to try changing your camera resolution. Something like 320x240 or whatever the pal equivalent is. I remember when I had analog cameras I tried upping the resolution from 320x240 to 640x480 and had noticeable scan lines kind of like whats in your screen...

Re: Noisy, interlaced frames after adding two more PAL camer

Under options

How many images are captured per returned frame, for shared local cameras

Change that to 4 I think. Since you have a 2 chip card thats 4 cameras per chip.

Re: ZM on 2 different computers (same network). Share camer

Say box 1 has your local cameras. Box 2 can connect to box 1 cameras as if they were IP cameras. quote from wiki. "Remote systems, themselves running zoneminder, can be accessed as cameras using the Remote Path of /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=single&monitor=1&scale=100&maxfps=5&buffer=...

Re: I get a 20 sec lag on an rtsp stream from aircam dome

I had an issue like that a long time ago but it was just grabbing jpg's from a remote zoneminder box. I think it had something to do with the maximum fps and alarm fps along with frame skipping. Maybe even settings in the buffers. Its been so long I dont remember exactly what it was or how I fixed i...

Re: Can you turn off some of your cameras (by group?)

You could use the "run state" to control when and what cameras are running.

Foscam clones should work with the Foscam scripts. Worst case is that you have to tweak the script a little.

Re: [SOLVED] Blue Mute detection

I would like to say I have seen this issue of the monitor or montage page not updating. I've never really looked into since it does not happen very often for me. My zoneminder is just grabbing the jpg's from the cameras. Sometimes for some reason zoneminder wont be able to connect to the camera to g...

Re: Any alternatives to zoneminder?

There are plenty of them out there. The company I work for uses exacqvision. They have windows and linux servers and clients. The license is pay per camera. Works well for corprate enviroment with 90+ IP cameras. There were others that were looked at and were all pretty much alike. All licensing per...

Re: Help Needed: Installing Zoneminder 1.25 on Xubuntu 12.10

Your going to have to do a little more work if all you did was just install from the software center. As long as it setup your database and apache you can follow the guide here starting with "Add delay to allow MySQL to start before Zoneminder " http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubu...
