I apologize for so many questions, but I really am getting excited about the progress of my system. I will have to post a build tutorial when its all said and done. Question: You say that when mpeg4 support is implemented (and in the future hopefully h.264), zoneminder will have to decompress it in...

Re: Two Way Audio?
Zoneminder doesn't support audio at all, either directionSteveT44 wrote:Does ZM support two way audio? I'm not looking to record audio, just access the feature (assuming the camera supports it) via the ZM interfaces.

Re: BlueCherry BC-08240A
Hello, I recently purchased the BC-08240A, 8 channel hardware compression, which is apparently not being sold anymore as a standalone item. You can find the product description here: BC-08240A Actually the OEM card (without software) is here: http://store.bluecherry.net/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCo...

Ok I have made great progress. It turns out that from the ubuntu zoneminder package, after the install it doesn't set all the permission appropriately and found out that the www-data user wasn't added to the video group so apache or zoneminder didnt have access to /dev/video. Even sifting through t...

First of all the customer is under a super tight budget and the decision to go with that was based on several other bad experiences with different surveillance systems. Secondly, you are correct in the fact that Zoneminder support is community based and one who decides to venture in that direction ...

i I noticed that this card would only create 4 X /dev/video0-3. I spoke to Bluecherry and they told me that you have to use the 2 channels on each /dev/video0-3, channel 0 and 1 for each camera to give you 8. I had a hard time beleiving that because i had a PV-183 and it created 8 X /dev/video0-7. ...

No, the time stamp and other OSD is written to the JPEG image itself

This card isn't a true hardware compression card. It does not have a DSP that does the video encoding on board, it's relying on the processor to do the work. With that in mind Zoneminder *can not* make use of hardware compression cards. When I say *can not* I mean it's literally impossible the curre...

Re: Very useful App to keep your xwindow alive and not hiber
[quote="alecano23"]I have found a very useful app to keep the xwindow (in my case gnome) alive and not go to hibernate state. The app is called caffeine, and do what ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10 cant do that is to keep your screen always on and not going to suspend mode. /quote] Why can't you run S...

lspci reports each card as 4 BT878 cards, so they seem to be nothing too proprietary. How can I figure out the optimal parameters for the bttv driver? I still have pretty minimal Linux knowledge when it comes to editing files :) Trial and error is your only bet, unless a Google search pops somethin...

Re: divis card compatability
Does anyone have any luck with getting a Divis dvr card working? The serial number on mine is MPG8CH 0423 - 274. I can't find much on the internet about Divis cards. This is a hardware compression card. There are two big reasons why this wouldn't work: a) There won't be a Video4Linux driver b) Even...
