Hi, has anybody upgraded based on my configuration (see subject) successfully? Is this painless?
I am aware of PPA

It this a PTZ? Does PTZ work in zm?

I have a old panasonic ptz camera and here are my settings. Not sure weather you need to tweek these:

controllable: checked
control type: panasonic IP
control address: {username:password}@{ip:port}
others are all default values.

(1) reduce the frame rate in the camera (not zm) to say 5 frames and in zm maybe set it to 10 frames (2) Does the network stream work in VLC [ media --> open network stream -- input the url] -- usually rtsp://{username}:{pswd}@{ip:port}//Streaming/Channels/1 If the above stream does ...

Hi, google chrome shows live view (you can see the time increments) however Microsoft edge browser does not show live view (it shows the picture but the time is static..does not increment...looks like it shows picture but not video). Anybody have experience this behavior? Any fix?

Martin, xeon is overkill. I bought DELL OPTIPLEX 390 quad core i5 from ebay and installed UBUNTU SERVER 16.04.3 LTS + zoneminder as per the WIKI ...works like a charm. Be careful on the PC if you are going to install UBUNTU ... sometimes drivers might not be available.....that is why I stuck with OP...

I did the same using command line (you can use the shell script as well)...on UBUNTU 16.04.3 LTS server 64 bit. Documentation if flawless!!!!

Enabling Authentication
Once at ZoneMinder's web interface, consider enabling authentication right away.

Click on the Options link on the top right corner
Access the System tab
Enable OPT_USE_AUTH (Authenticate user logins to ZoneMinder)

In version 1.28 when I access the url http:://{ip of zm}/zm I get an authentication screen asking me to enter username and password but in 1.30 it does not... i did change the admin pswd!! I there something I must enable?

Hi, I went into OPTIONS --> USERS and changed the password for user "admin" but when i access the ZM using the browser it does not ask me any username or password --- no authentication is done.....I did restart zm but not the ubuntu server....Any help would be appreciated
