Re: ZM v 1.32.0 Trashed After Upgrading to Ubuntu v 18.04

Nothing I do seems to make the button on the web interface show anything other than "STOPPED" (using Debian stretch).
(There are other issues, too...)

Random notes on upgrading 1.22.3 to 1.24.2

My webcam machine (which had been working away quietly and mostly without trouble for a couple of years or so) recently began to show signs of hardware stress (of the unexplained random kernel panic variety), so a week ago I set about building a replacement. The new machine has between four and eigh...

Two thoughts: 1) You have run the appropriate database update... 2) In the "Options" -> Paths tab there's a setting for PATH_MAP which you've got set to /dev/shm (probably because that's the default). It has potentially useful help information mentioning mmap... No idea whether either will...

Yep. For some reason or other the SQL to add the appropriate entry has escaped the normal string of updates. You'll need to do it by hand. In db/zm_create.sql, find the line which starts: insert into Config set Id = 8, Name = 'ZM_USE_DEEP_STORAGE', Then go into mysql and run that one insert manually...

There's a problem with one of the default mod_security rules which is trying to trap bad % encodings. It sees the encoded date-and-time format and gets confused. The offending mod_security SecRule line looks like this: SecRule REQUEST_FILENAME|ARGS|ARGS_NAMES|REQUEST_HEADERS|XML:/*|!REQUEST_HEADERS:...

Yeah, I have one UPS which shows full battery until the power goes. It does seem to have just enough left in it to keep the system powered long enough for an immediate shutdown. Trouble is, I'd not have discovered that without a power-off test... It'd be good to get a new battery... if they were sti...

The frames immediately after a switch event tend to have zones at maximum score because everything's changed and the current reference is no use any more. Some way to change the rate at which the reference image is adjusted might be good. Say the detecting zone triggers, so the reference percentage ...

It ain't easy... It's possible to do some filtering by having small preclusive zones which will only be triggered when the light switches, but you do run the risk of hiding real events. The main problem is that the reference image needs to be altered rapidly, and often ZM will trigger not on the ini...

I was capturing frames at PAL full-frame size so that would have increased the CPU load quite a bit. Keep the frame-size lower - 320x240 (or 384x288 for PAL) rather than 640x480 (or 768x576) - and things will go more smoothly.

My gut reaction is that the 1.2GHz VIA Eden will simply not be fast enough to handle the analysis of four cameras, but I'm basing this on my experiences with a 1.5GHz Athlon system a few years back. It coped, but not at a particularly high frame rate. More than 2fps or so, and it started dropping th...

Another option is to add a robots.txt file to your web root directory. A simple "go away" one looks like this:

Code: Select all

Buffer sizes are defined in ZoneMinder's configuration options page.

The shared memory issue is described in the Wiki here

Incidentally, 768x480 looks a bit like a wide-screen resolution. 640x480 would be more normal.
