Why have there been no announcements or change lists for 1.27 or 1.28?

I fixed it by running zm_update-1.27.1.sql again. I saw when apt-get was running a message said database was already at 1.27.1 but obviously it wasn't.

I had 1.26.5 running on 12.10 installed by apt-get. Today I ran do-release-upgrade twice to get to 14.10LTS. ZM no longer was working. I then ran apt-get install zoneminder and the machine acted like it never had zoneminder and installed it again. It worked. Then I added iconner and got 1.27.1. Runs...

Agreed but I didn't see a compilation error as being something that would depend on a database connection.

I'm going to run zm 1.26.x on a 64 bit system. Is there a recommended version of ubuntu? I've seen reports of 13.10 not working properly with zm.

Ok thanks. Is there a forumla for disk space? I tried some rough calculations and for 30 days I came up with 4TB. It may be close but I'd be interested in knowing the correct way to do it.
