Re: How to efficient use CCTV
Posting in the 1.36 section running 1.37 will lead to incorrect advice.
Under Recording you can choose On motion or Always in 1.37.

Re: "Unable to open input rtsp" from external network
Ok. So you have a modem ( which is also a router). Then you have another router that you actually use as a router.
I’d expect the ‘modem’ to have an option like ‘bridge mode’. This means it just connects to Internet and passes all traffic to your actual router. Can it do that?

Re: "Unable to open input rtsp" from external network
Depends. If you mean you are expecting it to just work, then probably not.
The modem/router would usually be a subnet of 192.168.8.0/24. The cameras are outside this and it’s probably not designed to route traffic to 192.186.1.0/24 where the cameras live.

The cameras and the modem appear to be on completely different subnets. Was that planned?

Try the ONVIF control. Hopefully that will work.

Re: How to efficient use CCTV
H.265+ is bad, as the long GOPs mean ZM has to buffer a huge number of frames.

It's for a separate audio stream.

Doesn’t seem to be a ZM problem. Sounds like the network to me.

Just use whatever works best for you out of RTSP and RTMP. ONVIF is not a streaming protocol, so forget that.

Re: high ram usage
You'll need to have a search and formulate a plan. Here's what I do - I wouldn't run mine on a VM. I have a machine with a decent number of cores and speeds plus 64GB RAM for 4 cams. I tuned the DB and run it on solid state drive. I reduced analysis FPS. I turned off storing JPEGs. I use local stora...
