Re: No Images in Browser but everything else works
The usual reason is as you've guessed, apache is looking in the wrong place. Often because the build didn't include the right option. The usual answer is to verify this by checking apache's error_log to see where it's looking for, and using "ln -s" to link the actual dir to the expected di...

Re: HELP INSTALLING MY AVERMEdia
Unclear on what you need as this and zm are very different and incompatible things.
Have you installed ubuntu ONTO the avermedia, and just cannot mount any local analogue cameras?

Re: Zoneminder with laptop planning.
It would work, but in my experience, laptops don't like running flat out for long periods of time. The fans are weak and cooling fins get bunged up quickly. There are people using laptops as low power servers with built-in UPS, but not generally for high load operations, and zm is not a lightweight ...

Re: Start up problem when running 'headless' and no monitor
Don't know what this is, but I do know what it isn't - zm. Zoneminder has no interest in any monitor in that sense and doesn't check it. It's only output goes via apache. I run numerous zoneminder servers, none with monitors. Might be some oddness in the bios perhaps - if the hdd light doesn't flick...

Re: DB problem ?
Hi Tim, The symbolic links should work ok (but check the wiki about upgrading zm, at least in debian it will delete the links, recreate the original dir structure and zmaudit will delete all your records!). The obvious suggestion is that the newly created dirs that the symbolic links point to don't ...

Re: saved filters, there should be a warning
Sucks that this nuked your events, but this is probably logical behavior. Entering undefined data and expecting 0 to mean something undocumented isn't sensible - although certainly no harm as a suggestion for a warning in future versions, should there be any. BTW, I've deleted your duplicate post. A...

Actually, a feed off another zoneminder - but it doesn't matter what camera provided it works with zm.

Raspberry Pi
I ordered one a couple of months ago, and it finally turned up today. Not really sure what I intended to do with it, but I put the recommended raspbian Debian image on there from the website. A few seconds later and I've got a working linux server. No graphical output (I don't have anything that fit...

Re: Zoneminder keeps stopping
The obvious question - and you've probably checked but don't mention - is has the mysql server gone away? Are there any issues with the tables, does it crash and restart - what are its logs? How do you restart zoneminder when it dies? Not something I've found BTW, although I do recall many years ago...

Re: Large scale Zoneminder
Thanks for following up - that's interesting to know and I would not have guessed it would have made such a big difference. I use XFS on a couple of zoneminder servers because it doesn't have the 64k file-per-dir limit of ext4 and I wasn't using the deep file system setting in zm, and it works ok - ...

Re: Playback quality is quite poor. Any solution to this?
That looks a lot like MPEG artifacting, which will be down to the camera end rather than zoneminder. Several cameras do this occasionally, especially in low light level. If the vivotek will do it, using mjpeg or jpg stills as a feed instead. Higher bandwidth requirements, but you don't get this stuff.

30fps is very high - fortunately there is a lot you can do, most of it detailed in the wiki.

Not sure what deleting a PurgeWhenFull filter has to do with mysql or creating tables, but this is the way to recreate it without reinstalling; To create a PurgeWhenFull filter. Click "Filters" on the main ZM Console and set the following. Archive Status equal to Unarchived Only AND Disk P...
