1. No the cameras can always see IR sources even in 'day' mode. 2. No clue 3. I am _not_ a camera expert the only thing I would worry about with some of the bigger ones would be making it too bright, but again I would defer to anyone else on that question. You may want to call the Bluecherry guys th...

this is only worth trying if you are already compiling from source but in short: svn co http://svn.zoneminder.com/svn/zm/trunk zoneminder cd zoneminder wget http://mitchcapper.com/zm_streams.patch or http://mitchcapper.com/zm_web_fixes.patch patch -p0 < zm_streams.patch or zm_web_fixes.patch ./confi...

Cheap IR lights generally give off a red glow, given its a $150 camera these are certainly cheap:) You can see the red glow at night. On the plus side you can completely disable not only the IR but the on light from the admin side so if you used a 3rd party IR illuminator you wouldn't know the camer...

updated to 1.1 with the largest changes being some backend stream error detection so if you run into many zms processes hanging around even though you arn't using them this should resolve most if not all of those.

I have a patch that I will release later today that may address part of this for anyone who has extra apache processes due to zms not terminating correctly when not in use should see some relief but that certainly doesn't sound like everyone described in the threads.

the symlink error means the user php scripts execute as does not have write permission to the events folder. Make sure the php user has ownership access on all of the zoneminder folders the install should take care of this again if the user is wrong that would also explain it.

One common issue is the web interface (more importantly php scripts) must run as the user zoneminder was configured with (ie apache) if they are running as a different user then it won't be able to communicate with the zm backend properly so the web interface will seem detached.

most likely its a permissions issue. Make sure the events folder and sub folders are atleast 711, and the images are 644. If you start zoneminder or apache under a umask other than 0022 it can create them also with wrong permissions.

zm is more fine grain in the controls and zoning than what most cameras can do. You may save some cycles but certainly some benifits too.

your problem then is you have your camera setup wrong. ZM thinks it can only go to a very specific point but can't move up/down/left/right assuming its your standard move up, move left, move right, move down X amount you want Can Move Relative enabled but NOT Can Move Mapped that should fix this pro...
