Not wii related, but I have been using my DS to aim cameras. Works pretty good. You just connect to the LAN via WiFi and use the Opera browser for the NDS. Its not perfect, but you can get good enough performance so you can aim the cameras without getting down off the ladder or roof...

I use ext3 but even that needs to run e2fsck to fix things sometimes. Yes, but very rarely. I admin over 100 large Linux boxes and I almost never need to run fsck by hand. ups is out of budget. how do all these embedded things work? Hmm. Well, frankly, if they cant spend $100 for a UPS then they ar...

With a journaling filesystem like ext3 you should really not have any issues. edit: If you are really worried about power failures just run a large UPS and have the server shutdown gracefully when it gets to the last few minutes of power. Then the only time any disk checks will need to be done will ...

Thanks. Just reread and I should have made it clear I was referring to zoneminder instability rather than general instability. That said, there seems to be a few people running now so should be fine, when I get a chance to fully finish it. I have not heard of ZM acting up on Ubuntu based distros (m...

Thanks. I've got working now using a the process you describe. There is a sort of duplicate thread running where someone helped me with the ffmpeg source build and I'm OK now. Haven't had a chance to test it in anger yet, and was warned in the past of stability issues on ubuntu - I'm assuming by th...

Re: Manual install on ubuntu Gutsy 7.10

I've done various ZM installs on suse and redhat, but am struggling with Ubuntu. Tried a while ago and gave up, but 7.10 looks very good so I thought I'd revisit. I'm having the same problem as before on configure though: configure: WARNING: libpcre.a may be required for remote/network camera suppo...

On Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10), I've had to chmod 666 /dev/video0 (or appropriate dev) to get working. zmfix doesn't seem to do it right. Picture won't show unless I do this. Restart zoneminder after doing. Is 'www-data' a member of group 'video'? You should not need to change any device perms if it is.

i have seen this too myself and think its the card grabbing the evens or the odds of the frame. Not sure how to stop it but maybe 289 lines would if pal, (241 ntsc) guessing mind Interesting theory...that seems to be just what is happening. BTW: I have a video of the issue if anyone wants to see it.

Do you absolutely require IP cameras for your installation? the guy that began the project (before dropping it, and having me brought in) wired everything cat5, so it would be an additional expense to change to coax or rca I would strongly consider trying out a decent 'normal' cam with a capture ca...

Can you tell me what you do, or click on, to get to where you see the problem? Do you just click on 'Cycle'? What do you have for the default scale for your current bandwidth setting? I just click 'cycle' from the console. The default scale is set to '100' for high, low, an medium bandwidth setting...
