options bttv card=77,77,77,77

Mines a slightly different card to yours but it might work.

The Picolo Tetra is a PCI-X four chip card. Its not cheap but it sounds like you might have the resources. What you are currently doing is, assuming 3 bytes per pixel (maybe its four?) , 4*640*480*25*3 = 92MB/s .The old PCI standard has only 133MB/s bandwidth but in the real world nothing like that ...

If you use that Kodicom 4400 clone you might get up to full frame rate for four cameras but you will need to keep the chips cool with heatsinks. If you attach 16 cameras frame rate will drop down to about 2 fps per camera because a number of frames are lost as the controler switches between cameras....

You will get better frame rates with a 4 chip card, 20fps or more depending on how good the card is.

I'm guessing untermensch is a spammer / shill.
If you want to buy un-branded ebay capture cards stick to the Kodicom knock offs at least there is a good chance they will partialy work.

Over the 6 months I had one on 24/7 I thought the low light performance declined, maybe because the room got quite bright during the day. The white LED light on the top was 80% dead by then. Maybe the new driver lets you turn the light off instead of having to stick tape over it:) I imagine the 640x...

I used one of these for several months. I used the saillard.org pwc-10.0.12-rc1.tar.bz2 and a patch called linux-2.6.15_pwc-10.0.11.patch.bz2. It also involved getting the kernel source and compiling it. It may well have good low light for a webcam but that and qualty in general is poor compared to ...

Surely IP cameras dont have deinterlace problems. Some are even HDTV so obviously progressive. To encode it as PAL/NTSC then decode it in the very next circuit, in the same box, for no reason would be seriously sloppy design.

I do. I had it running without problems for about a week and a half before the boot patch was posted. The patch works, and it boots well. Left it running until the demo Wednesday, and then hooked it back up. It has not shut down unless I shut it down. However, it runs very hot, and I added heat sin...

My experience from using one is that they give random crashes so are unreliable trash. If anybody has a system with one that will work for more than a day or 2 then I wait to be corrected.
