Now I've got beyond the errors as noted in my previous post I too get the 'user failed to authenticate' error in /var/log/messages. I also can't log on if I turn on user authentication.
For now I've reverted back to 1.19.5 which in itself appears to have caused a few problems...

"Use of uninitialized value in transliteration" er
It has to be said that zmupdate.pl has never worked for me (usually because my mySQL server is on a different PC to ZM), however this time the errors were quite odd. When I ran zmupdate.pl I got this: Use of uninitialized value in transliteration (tr///) at scripts/zmupdate.pl line 52, <CONFIG> line...

I disagree, the location of the streaming server executable is neither here nor there. The problem is that people can access the streams simply by guessing the camera number and keying it into the stream url. I've had a look at the source for zms and it's not as easy to change as it might appear - t...

You may want to take a look at http://www.nagios.org for full-blown network monitoring. I use it to monitor my home network.

It could be that your modules.conf entry for the bttv device needs some tweaking - I had the same problem until I changed the 'tuner' setting. Have a search on these forums. Here's my setting for my 4-chip system. Note the 'tuner=5' entry options -k bttv card=0,0,0,0 tuner=5,5,5,5 pll=1,1,1,1 radio=...

Just to add something else to the pot - my database is stored on a different server to ZM. ZM only has read/write access to the server via the zmuser and zmadmin mysql accounts. root access is only allowed to the mysql server on the server machine. This meant that I had to do the update process manu...

phil: I'm currently running two cameras Camera 1: Colour 352 x 288 3 Zones Camera 2: Grayscale 528x432 (ie. 1.5x regular size) 1 Zone Both are running Modect and they will happily sit at 10fps when running a Montage view. Frame rate is entirely dependant on the amount of movement in the image - cam...

Previous/Next links on event view
Below is a snippet of PHP which adds 'previous' and 'next' links to the page selector in events view. For example: << 1 2 - 3 - 4 5 7 9 >> Apply this to zm_html_view_events.php. If you have trouble due to formatting, I've made it available at http://www.hunter13.com/zm_navigation.diff *** zm_html_vi...

Exclude cameras fro Montage
It would be handy if each camera had an check-box to allow it to be excluded from the Montage view - sometimes I only want to look at a couple of cameras at a time.

Setting compiler optimisation to O3 instead of O2
I did this a day or so ago by altering CCFLAGS and CXXFLAGS in Makefile and src\Makefile and have successfully recompiled zma, zmc, zmf, zms and zmu.
So far things look good - performance hasn't dropped and capture seems a little smoother with a lower CPU load.
Has anyone else attempted this?

'There are no statistics recorded for this event/frame'?
I've turned on the statistic logging so that I can fiddle with zone settings but it doesn't log any stats at all. It used to work when I installed my first copy of ZM (pre 1.19 I think) but doesn't seem to work now (1.19.3)
Any suggestions?
