zm's been up for months with only a few issues, today it started spitting up this error. I rebooted the box and it's gone now.

It's got ubuntu 9.04 on it now but I'm getting ready to reinstall with fedora 13 LXDE

Thanks hiredguntech!
I want to try this with f13
zoneminder is in the repos and it was easy to put up for a web cam on an old box so I'll cross my fingers and try it on my box with 8 cameras

Thanks to bb99 for pointing this thread out in another post.

I feel your pain.
I put up a ubuntu 9.04 box with ZM 1.24.2 and it's not as stable as my old Centos 5 / ZM 1.23.x box I am thinking when I get time I might go back to that set-up, it just worked.

Maybe there is a bug fix in the works?

Good Luck,

I have just setup a ubuntu 9.04/ZM 1.24.2 box with a PV-149 I had a Centos 5 box set-up with ZM 1.23.x and a PV-143 on it. I think I got spoiled, the Centos box "just worked" but my new set-up is giving me some trouble. It defiantly is picky about the browser you use to view the cameras wi...

ZMLarch - the best ZoneMinder Live disk yet - very nice

Hello rdmelin and all, Very nice job on ZMLarch I have tried a ubuntu ZMLiveCD and a MandrakeLveCD, ZMLarch is the best yet. I really like the slim, thin approach. It's very easy yo get used to. I'll ask a newbie question, after I install ZMLarch, can I "init 3" to kill X and cut the load ...

nice!

24 cameras running what I call "vga" SWEET! camera modes, frame rates, number of zones, color or B/W cameras? My guess, I would say 64 bit OS running on a quad processor for sure, with a minimal OS install to keep as much overhead off it as possible, and add another 4GB of memory, got a de...

You might have a problem with your "\" that's sure to bork things in Linux Are the cameras linked? Ports on the card 0, 1, 2, 3 not 1, 2, 3, 4 ? I noticed my cameras have to be doing something to be green, http://members.dslextreme.com/users/patsstuff4sale/Files-notimages/ZM-sc_Sept08.gif ...

centos install spits errors when rebooting but works

I recently reinstalled with the Centos guide in the Wiki, first THANK YOU It seems to be working OK but when I reboot I see some errors getting spit up about zonminder and perl and line 45 and line 30 sorry, it goes by so fast I can hardly read it. When it's up and running, all seems fine. I've only...

no replies? I don't know but I toss some stuff out here. Is it going to be dedicated? Maybe you could get a Linux variant to install on the hardware? It might be a challenge to get the video streams working. My guess is you could get some usb cameras to work or ip cameras working? I don't know if a ...

I like fedora, but I am getting worn out with all the upgrades. I just finished redoing my ZoneMinder with the Centos guide in the ZoneMinder Wiki. I had it running Ubuntu 8.04 but it seemed a bit heavy for me and I am more used to "the RedHat way" , yea, run what ya know. So far so good w...

maybe I can help attract some replies? I don't know the answer, sorry. It doesn't seem to matter where the stream comes in from, if you can pick it up on your box and know the proper /dev or ip address I think ZoneMinder can do the rest. The wired stuff will probably need to go off the card and the ...
